Technician

From the early beginnings of George's the interest towards the mechanical engineering of a drum set was sparked. During the early hours of the morning, when playing was neither advisable nor tolerable, there was still plenty to discover. It was a daily routine to tear down every last nut and bolt of the first couple drum sets that belonged to me. The experiences of a routine deconstruction was as equally enjoyable as it was important in beginning the journey towards mastering the instrument.

Decades of hands-on experience with instruments from nearly every major manufacturer has resulted in the expertise to quickly achieve the sonic best that a drum has to offer in order to serve the music. The materials are to be considered as the most important detail for what tones a drum can produce. Factors such as wood types and hardware quality play key roles in a drums tonal range. Extensive research and experimentation with a vast number of material combinations has led to the ability to determine the best applications for the many types of drums. The proper drumhead selection is a final decision to yield a more specific tone for the music and feel for the player. The major drumhead manufactures all offer products for general use as well as unique selections for more specific results.

Beyond offering expertise in drum set up, routine maintenance or restorations are available services provided--from garage sale finds, to heirlooms, to rare collectibles George offers the proper treatment to get almost any drum sounding and looking as great as desired. Though not often, there are occasions where a drum is too run-down or frail to be fit for use. It is necessary to note that major structural alterations are not currently services George provides (ex: bearing edge modifications). In any event, when it is time to move onto a new drum he is delighted to assist with selection.

Regarding a more macro perspective of technical services, drum set construction is never to be overlooked as a crucial aspect in one's ability to freely express their art. Each person is as unique as are their requirements for positioning the many instruments that make up their kit. The correct procedure of setting up the foundational pieces of a drum set, in their proper order, will ensure that comfort and relaxation is achieved during practice and performance once the kit is ready for operation. It is not only the physical proportions of a player that determine how the drum kit is to be constructed, the player's technique is a factor that also influences angle selections for drum set instruments. Additionally, angles largely contribute to conservation of equipment. Whether the drum set is a micro traveler needing to be equipped for quick loading times, or the cockpit of an entire percussion ensemble within arms reach, ergonomics is at the forefront to letting creativity flow.

With great pleasure and expertise any technical needs, whether for drum tuning, maintenance, kit construction, or gear selection, can be achieved.
